Under the direction of the unit supervisor, serves as a member of the Serials Processing and Repairs Unit. Leads and coordinates the Libraries’ Serials Collating, Binding, and Repairs Operations related activities. Provides physical processing of serial volumes in preparation for shelving in the library stacks. Assists in serials check-in, invoice processing, and superseded serials operations.

$26.60 - $34.82 (Hourly Rate)
Required:
Minimum of 3-4 years of related experience working in an academic or public library or relevant education and training.
Demonstrated knowledge of microcomputer applications. Demonstrated ability to perform detailed tasks with a high degree of accuracy. Excellent keyboarding and proofreading skills. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively and to promote teamwork, diversity, equality, and inclusiveness within UCI Libraries and the campus. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and to interact diplomatically with staff and the public. Skills to adapt to change and balance work priorities in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to analyze and organize data. Demonstrated ability to maintain a good attendance record. Ability to work at a computer workstation for extended periods of time. Experience working in a library and knowledge of general library operations and procedures. Working knowledge of automated library systems. Experience working in a library and knowledge of general library practices and procedures. Working knowledge of University of California policies and procedures. Manual dexterity, skill, and ability sufficient to undertake collection materials repair. Extensive experience in materials evaluation and repair. Demonstrated skill in training techniques used in the daily preparation and processing of library materials for binding and repair. Experience preparing adhesive and other compounds used in repair and binding following formulas and guidelines. Ability to analyze and solve problems. Ability to teach and troubleshoot the various software applications used in binding and repair processing. General knowledge of serial, monographic, government documents, and other types of publishing formats . Detailed knowledge of book construction, including binding styles, paper types, adhesives, etc.
