Title: Intake Coordinator Classification: At will, hourly employee. Reports to the Executive Director Schedule: 8:30 am to 5:30pm Tuesday â€" Friday. Additional shifts and days will occasionally be mandatory including Mo nday mornings. 36 hours average per week with no more than 40 hours in one week.
Heartland Humane Society Intake Coordinator is responsible for the intake, healthcare and welfare of all shelter animals. This person must be a registered veterinary technician or licensed veterinarian or have the ability to be a registered or licensed within 30 days of hire.
Daily/Weekly duties will include:
- Daily assessing shelter animals and managing, monitoring, administering: medicine & medical charts, food & food charts, and kennel tags.
- Scheduling the intake of animals and performing intake exams and behavior assessments.
- Scheduling foster needs and animals available for foster programming.
- Preparing pet files including maintaining our online data program.
- Scheduling and assisting in veterinary surgeries, include pre- and post-operation.
- Managing shelter kennel staff employees.
- Overseeing animal healt h and welfare including proper kennel signage, kennel items, toys, treats, playtime schedules and animal location including animals best suited for foster homes.
- Tracking and ordering appropriate medications, vaccinations and animal care items.
- Yankton Pound â€" data tracking and dispatch communications
- Assessing animal care concerns from volunteers and other staff members.
- Oversee stress and disease reduction policies for shelter.
- Overseeing cleaning and sanitation protocols for shelter.
Additional duties will include:
- Represent HHS with local rescues / transferring animals.
- Overseeing the intake and veterinary care of our FIDO program.
- Perform microchipping for pet owners and additional community programming as identified by Board of Directors.
- Additional duties as assigned by executive director.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $13.00 to $16.00 /hour
