Pro Med Healthcare Services is currently hiring an experienced OB RN for the following Indian Health Services government contract opportunity:

Location: Pine Ridge, SD

Setting: Indian Health Services

Contract: February 10, 2014 thru May 18, 2014 with extensions offered

Scope of Service:
Perform primary functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of ! a11 assigned patients in the Acute Care Setting/Emergency Room! /Obstetrics (Medica1/Surgica1).

Manage supplies and equipment on the unit, and promoting teamwork with primary care providers, personne] of other departments and the patient community.

Generate and maintain proper medical record information on beneficiaries to whom treatment is provided in accordance with IHS regulations.

Assess the biophysical, psychosocial, emotional, educational, spiritual, and cultural needs of a11 emergency medical, surgical and pediatric patients in accordance with established patient care standards.

Plan nursing care for patients utilizing the nursing process and in accordance with established unit standards. Initiate treatments, medications, emergency and resuscitative measures based on appropriate utilization of and unit protocols.

Administer therapeutic and emergency measures as prescribed by the provider, such as medications, treatments and procedures utilizing scientific knowledge including principles! of safety and infection control.

Document observations, nursing interventions, therapeutic measures administered and patient response to treatment and re­ evaluation of nursing care according to unit standards.

Operate specialized equipment such as cardiac/telemetry monitors, defibri11ators, pulse oximeters, infusion pumps, blood warmers, and the like.
Consult with primary care providers and other healthcare professionals on patients to coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic regimens for patients.

Provide patient and family education, which include counseling and assisting the patient/family to understand and accept implications of care, diagnosis, and treatment.

Implements nursing interventions in accordance with patient care standards. Included but limited to Newborn care: routine care of newborn at birth, assisting with breastfeeding and formula feeding, management of hyperbilirubinemia, resuscitation measures such as providing Po! sitive-Pressure Ventilation, Chest compressions, Assisting with Intubat! ions, drawing blood, starting IVs and preparing and administering Intravenous medications and stabilization for transfer as necessary. In the Postpartum area, nursing interventions to include but not limited to routine and complicated Postpartum care, routine and complicated Post-op care of conditions such as Postpartum hemorrhage, lacerations, episiotomies, incisions & surgical drains, magnesium sulfate administration and administration of blood products. In Labor & Delivery, nursing interventions include but are not limited to routine care of patients in labor who deliver vaginally with or without medical interventions such as administration of IV/IM medications (narcotics, magnesium sulfate, oxytocin, steroids), co-management of epidural anesthesia, prepping patients for emergency surgeries and stabilization and transfer of high risk patients.
This position offers a competitive hourly rate, weekly pay, direct deposit, liability coverage

RN Licensure within the 50 United States in clear and active standing

Current BLS, ACLS NRP

Shall have a minimum of twenty-four (24) months experience in a Medical-Surgical/Emergency Room /Obstetrics inpatient setting within the last thirty-six (36) months

Drug Screening and background check required on all applicants
