For complete informations about this position opportunity kindly read the description below. Sanford Orthopedics and Sports Medicine is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider. This position will! include working OR and clinic and will include call.
Prefer candidates with previous orthopedic/surgery experience
The Advanced Practice Provider provides primary or specialty care for clinic patients and/or inpatients acting as an assistant to physicians. The APP functions in a structured, clear setting and adheres to the policies and procedures established by Sanford Health. The APP must demonstrate knowledge of medical principles for the clinic patient and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and to interpret appropriately the information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to the age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed. Other duties as assigned by Clinic Manager.
When students are providing patient care, treatment, and/or services as a part of their training, any/all employees may be asked to supervise the students.
Required Skills
Physician Assistant:
Must have successfully completed a formal program of stu! dy at an accredited university, college or school in primary health care or a recognized clinical specialty. The course of study is approved by the South Dakota Board of Medical & Osteopathic Examiner. Must have passed the Physician Assistants National Certifying Examination, administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or been grandfathered by the South Dakota Board of Medical & Osteopathic Examiners. Only those successfully completing the national certification examination may use the credential PA-C or “Physician Assistant-Certified.†In order to remain certified, PAs must complete 100 hours of continuing medical education every 2 years. Every 6 years, they must pass a recertification examination or complete an alternative program combining learning experiences and a take-home examination.
Nurse Practitioner:
Must have successfully completed a formal nurse practitioner program of study beyond the basic R! N role specific to their specialty area of practice. This program includes academic science and clinical experiences specific to their specialty, graduating with a minimum of a Masters Degree (those who have obtained APRN licensure prior to 2000 will be grandfathered in). Currently licensed to practice as a Certified Nurse Practitioner in the state of South Dakota or an eligible graduate with an approved temporary permit as granted by the Joint Board of South Dakota Medical and Osteopathic Examiners and the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
