The Specialty RN plans, coordinates, and provides total patient care specific to the diagnosis and age of the patients served on a continuing basis to obtain optimum health for the patient and family in accordance with accepted facility standards and policy and South Dakota Nurse Practice Act. Consistently employs patient and family centered care to promote safety, quality, and satisfaction. Embedded in patient and family centered care the ANA ( American Nurses Association) Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. In addition, the Spec! iality RN will utilize enhanced skills acquired through experi! ence, education,competency validation and/ or certification. Essential Job Functions Acts as Peri-operative Nurse for the Surgical department to ensure a positive outcome and provide care within established polices and procedures. Adheres to AORN recommended Standards for aseptic technique. Clinical record reflects accurate and timely documentation to ensure continuity and quality of resident care. Demonstrates appropriate utilization, cleaning, and maintenance of department equipment and supplies. Demonstrates mastery of sterile technique in all areas of surgery (e.g. preps, sterile supplies), as evidenced by observation of the surgical team. Follows proper procedure in identifying and correcting breaks in aseptic technique. Demonstrates teamwork by cooperating and assisting with all levels, both in and out of the department Adaptibility Ability to adapt and respond to change and learn quickly. Flexibility Displays a positive attitude and flexibility in changing situations! . Interruptions Must be able to adapt to frequent interruptions while concentrating on critical tasks. BLS and ACLS required. Decision Making Ability to problem solve and make independent decisions based on sound judgement. Interpersonal Exhibits the ability to establish good working relationships with patients, families, staff, and resource providers. Basic Computer skills in Internet and E-mail at minimum. Current Registered Nurse license required.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to provide direct patient care. Perform transfer patients from recliners and/ or carts to OR table.
Work Hours:
Day shift, M-F with weekday and weekend call. Holiday rotation
