Hospitalist - Physician - (Hospital Medicine) Locum Tenens
Start! Date: 09/01/2013Available Shifts: Rotating Shift
Locum Tenen, Board Certified or Board Eligible, Internal Medicine Hospitalist to cover asap for 6 months with the option to extend 6 more months. Work hours will be 36-40 hours per week. Shifts will be 12 hour shifts from 7a-7p and 7p-7a seven days per week including holidays. Each shift will be staffed with one provider per shift. Site has 28 acute care beds & 6 ICU beds (has eICU) and responsible for acute care for mental health (1-2 calls every 6 months). Site provides sleep room and private bath when on duty. Competence in paracentesis, thoracentesis, and spinal taps are preferred. Patient exams new & Followup and consultative. Complete mild, moderate, and comprehensive history & physicals. Patient evaluations, followup patient care orders, diagnostic results reporting. *Must have BCLS and have computer skills, site uses computerized medical records system.
A hospitalist (locum tenens) is a physician! that is generally Internal Medicine residency trained but can! be from Family Medicine or other sub-specialty programs. They specialize in the care of patients who have been admitted into a hospital. These general medicine professionals perform a variety of roles in the hospital and, accordingly, must be familiar with the entirety of human physiology and a wide range of illnesses and medical conditions. Hospitalists complete residencies in internal medicine, much like primary care physicians. When patients arrive to the hospital, a hospitalist will take care of them, prescribing treatment as needed, before referring them to a specialist or discharging them from the facility.
