Full Time RN position to work in Avera's Plastic Surgery Clinic Monday-Friday varied shifts between 6:30am and 5:00 pm.
Responsible, well organized individual to work as a Registered Nurse in the Plastic Surgery Clinic and assist the physician in the Operating Room.
The duties of this position will be shared with another clinic RN and time will be split evenly between the two nurses in the operating room, clinic nursing, clinic administrative duties and outreach clinic.
Applicant must have good communication skills, be able to work independently and be flexible.
Position will work five, 8 hour days but the hours will vary between surgery days (start time:
6:40 a.m.), clinic days (start time:
8:00 a.m.) and outreach days (start and end time vary).
This may position will float to other clinics on an as needed basis.
Essential Job Functions:
Operating Room Duties
§
Assist the surgeon, on a rotating basis, with procedures in the operating room, both insurance and cosmetic, which can include but not limited to suturing, draping, cutting, administering local anesthetic, and dressing changes.
§
Meet with the patient and families before and after surgery to provide updates and answer questions
Clinical Nursing Duties
§
Prepares equipment and assists physician during treatment, examination and testing of patients.
§
Performs procedures per direction from provider, with and without the presence of provider
§
Administration of Botox for hyperhidrosis, Chemical Peels and Blue Peels.
§
Provides direct care to patients as well as follow-through care per telephone. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
Remove sutures, drains, and staples.
§
Educate insurance and cosmetic inquiries and patients on applicable surgeries.
Responsible for maintaining contact with potential clinic and surgical patients and past patients.
§
Travel required to outreach clinics
§
Ability to write surgery orders, H & Ps, chart notes, referring doctor letters and prescriptions.
§
Schedule surgeries, make pre-op phone calls, schedule pre-op visits, monitor H & P clearance, perform nicotine testing and ensure all necessary paperwork if completed prior to surgery.
Communicate surgeries with various departments within the hospital.
§
Ability to photograph patients using photography and video equipment.
Administrative Duties
§
Transferring dictations to patient records and assuring completion of all dictation.
§
Preparation of draft operative notes.
§
Ability to use CPT and ICD codes for insurance preauthorizations
§
Coordinate laser and outreach clinics
§
Strong computer skills
§
Assist with direct mailings, email marketing, facebook posts, and updating website
§
General office duties such as scanning , maintaining supply inventories & patient educational material, scheduling appointments and making reminder calls, collections of payments
§
30% of time may be spent performing these duties
Minimum Requirements: Associate’s RN Degree,

urrent license from the state of South Dakota Board of Nursing,
Prefer 1 year nursing experience
